The Flipper is a small, family-owned Australian business based in Perth, WA. We handcraft unique sporting gifts using genuine Australian-made leather cricket balls and hockey balls, as well as quality tennis and golf balls.
Karl is the creative genius behind the biz and Chelsea handles everything else! Proud moonlighters—Karl has a regular gig in the mining industry, while Chelsea is a part-time primary school teacher. Karl loves sport and beer and Chelsea loves... Karl. Together, we make a pretty great team! We're also proud parents to two kids who keep us on our toes.
We're a dedicated and professional team who manage our business with integrity. Exceptional customer service is our top priority, and we take pride in being responsive, reliable, and detail-oriented. We aim to dispatch orders promptly, answer queries quickly, resolve any issues without delay, and track deliveries to ensure they arrive safely. We're always ready to go the extra mile when needed. Creating high-quality, 100% Australian-made products is at the heart of what we do. We source our materials locally or from across Australia and proudly support other small businesses by outsourcing custom work to local experts. When you buy from us, you're not only supporting our family—you’re also backing a network of Australian businesses. Every product is handcrafted and shipped from our home in the (mostly) sunny southern suburbs of Perth.
We launched our business in 2020, not long after the pandemic began, starting with our original cricket ball bottle openers, which proudly earned a Certificate of Australian Design Registration (#202014958). In mid-2022, we expanded our range to include pen holders and hockey ball bottle openers. In early 2024, following many customer requests, we introduced tennis ball bottle openers and golf ball versions complete with a built-in divot tool and can opener. Our latest release, The Full Toss, launched in October 2024 and has quickly become one of our bestsellers.
In January 2023, we created a limited run of 100 pink 'Flippers' featuring the McGrath Foundation Community Friend logo. 100% of the proceeds go directly to the McGrath Foundation to support their incredible work. Throughout this journey, we’ve found ourselves navigating uncharted waters. We've faced our fair share of roadblocks and setbacks—moments that left us disheartened and exhausted. But each challenge has only strengthened our resolve. Every hurdle we've overcome has made us more determined than ever to keep pushing forward and succeed.
