The Flipper is a small, family-owned Australian business based in Perth, WA, handcrafting unique sporting gifts.
Karl is the creative genius behind the biz and Chelsea handles everything else! Proud moonlighters, Karl has a regular gig in the mining industry, while Chelsea is a part-time primary school teacher. Karl loves sport and beer and Chelsea loves... Karl. Together, we make a pretty great team! We're also proud parents to two kids who keep us on our toes.
We are a dedicated, professional team committed to running our business with integrity. Exceptional customer service is our priority, and we pride ourselves on being responsive, reliable, and detail-oriented - promptly dispatching orders, answering queries, and resolving issues. We're also always willing to go the extra mile needed.
Creating high-quality, Australian-made products is at the heart of what we do. We proudly support other small businesses by sourcing materials locally or across Australia. When you purchase from us, you're supporting our family as well as backing a network of Australian businesses. Every product is handcrafted and shipped from our home in the (mostly) sunny southern suburbs of Perth.
We launched our business in 2020, not long after the pandemic began, starting with our original cricket ball magnetic bottle opener, which proudly earned a Certificate of Australian Design Registration. Since then, we’ve continued to grow our range with pen holders, hockey ball and tennis ball openers, golf ball divot tool and can opener, and our bestselling The Full Toss. Our latest additions include our first wine-themed product, The Bail, while our kids joined the fun with their own creative Christmas tree decoration. More exciting ideas are always in the works, so stay tuned!
In addition to our product range, a proud milestone for us was our limited run of pink “Flippers” featuring the McGrath Foundation Community Friend logo, with 100% of proceeds donated to support the McGrath Foundation's incredible work, raising over $2300. We hope to support the same great cause again in the future.
As our range has grown, so has our passion for creating personalised products that make memorable gifts, keepsakes and promotional material. We customise our items for special occasions, clubs, businesses and sporting milestones.
We’ve recently taken customisation in-house with the purchase of our own UV printer. This is a big step forward for our small family-run business. It means we now have more control over every custom order, faster turnaround times, and the flexibility to create one-off pieces or larger runs.
Throughout this journey, we’ve navigated uncharted waters, facing setbacks and challenges that tested us. Each hurdle has only strengthened our resolve and determination to keep pushing forward and succeed.
Over the years, we've refined our openers into what they are today – high-quality products crafted with care and precision using quality materials.
